6G LUNAR
Forskningsprojekt, 2025
– 2029
The advent of 6G cellular networks introduces a range of technological enablers that promise not only enhanced connectivity but also highly accurate positioning services, which are critical for a variety of applications. Among these, autonomous vehicles (AVs) stand out due to their potential to revolutionize transportation, offering significant societal and economic benefits. This project investigates how these 6G enablers, particularly non-terrestrial networks (NTNs) such as low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites, terrestrial networks (TNs), and reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs), can be integrated to develop a precise and uninterrupted positioning solution tailored for the AV market. By exploring this uncharted research area, the project aims to contribute to the reliable and widespread deployment of AVs, ensuring their safe and efficient operation in diverse environments.
