Att nå singulariteter av grafens bandstruktur
Forskningsprojekt, 2025
Quite basic band structure of graphene has several k-space points where the bands flatten out resulting in a logarithmic divergence in the energy density of states, the van Hove singularity (vHs). Theory predicts that vHs in graphene can be linked to several exotic phases of matter, the most outstanding of which is chiral superconductivity. The purpose of this project is to experimentally reveal- and investigate these phases in graphene, aiming at completion of the challenging task of reaching up to vHs energy levels by several methods. The primary methods for changing the Fermi energy in graphene will be chemical- and/or electrostatic doping. This will also be combined with high-pressure diamond-anvil-cells setup to fine-tune the Fermi energy to the vHs-level.
