Nordic consortium to Monitor & Research AMR, NoMoReAMR
Forskningsprojekt, 2025

Network aiming to establish an interdisciplinary consortium that will collect, integrate and analyse AMR-relevant data across the Nordic region.

Surveillance of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and use (AMU) is critical for an effective response of public health authorities to the threat of rapidly spreading AMR pathogens.

While most Nordic countries have well-established systems for monitoring AMR and AMU, each country operates within its own framework with limited connections to neighboring countries' surveillance structures. It is also challenging to identify the effectiveness of the current structures in controlling the AMR spread, pinpoint opportunities for improvement, and communicate the progress of the AMR epidemic to the public in a coherent way across the Nordic region.

This project aims to establish an interdisciplinary consortium that can gather, integrate, and analyze AMR-relevant data across the Nordic region.

Through this collaboration, we will assess the current AMR infrastructures in each country and identify opportunities for research that can enhance surveillance and control of AMR spread.

By examining drivers of AMR in the region and formulating focused research questions, we will drive forward innovative proposals for research calls by e.g., the European Union.

Specifically, we will seek funding to consolidate multinational datasets into the world's most advanced AMR surveillance database and research platform. This project will facilitate the integration of existing AMR infrastructures, where the data currently remain dispersed and unutilized. As a result, it will give Nordics a competitive advantage in producing globally unique cutting-edge research.
