Development of resource-efficient chemical processes
Forskningsprojekt, 2019
We will enhance our efforts to develop biorefinery concepts, where we during 2019 will focus on depolymerization of lignin forming a bio-oil. Here we will start the work of finding new capping agents (replacing the phenol with an alcohol). Furthermore, we will increase our efforts to find energy and material efficient ways of extracting the hemicelluloses from wood materials (novel oxidative methods will be investigated). On the separation part we will utilize our new MRI equipment, as well as other methods, to deepening our work with filtration (energy efficient dewatering of nano-celluloses). We will also use our new test rig (where ours is the most accurate of the three test rigs world-wide) to study fractionation using micro/ultrafiltration (particular fouling of membrane). We will further continue our work on black liquor evaporation (scaling of tubes).
