Innovation intermediaries for the large-scale diffusion of renewable electricity technologies

Different literature streams, including the literature on innovation systems, the diffusion of innovation, and sociotechnical transitions, have increasingly focused on the innovation intermediary concept. However, there are still many unclear aspects to uncover, for instance related to the particularities of innovation intermediaries and to the parties they mediate. Over the last four years, through our empirical research on intermediaries in the context of wind- and solar PV projects, we have also come across a number of theoretical
misconceptions and confusion, which we are eager to highlight and discuss. The aim of this project is hence to describe the state of the art of the research on innovation intermediaries and suggest some directions for future research.
