Modulära styrsystem för ökad solenergianvändning och nättjänster från solcellssystem med termisk lagring (SUNSETS)
Forskningsprojekt, 2021 – 2024

SUNSET's goal is to develop and demonstrate innovative solutions for buildings with solar cells in local energy communities, to enable increased solar cell installation and energy efficiency. The project will develop energy management systems for buildings and energy communities to maximize the value of solar energy and increase energy efficiency by utilizing and controlling electricity consumption and energy storage (electricity and heat). Two types of energy storage will be evaluated, heat storage in smart accumulator tanks and in high-temperature storage with Stirling motors for converting heat to electricity. With the help of a cloud-based IoT platform, buildings will be aggregated to a local level and offer services to network owners, which increases the electricity network's robustness. The solutions will be validated in demonstrations, network services and high-temperature storage will be demonstrated in Sweden and smart accumulator tanks in Greece. Increased energy efficiency will be demonstrated by linking the two energy stores together.
