Secure and Efficient Transportation and Information Flows in large ports
Rapport, 2007
The project objective is to develop secure and efficient transportation and information flow solutions in and around international port areas. This pre-study has been performed by a team of actors involved in Security Arena, a part of Open Arena Lindholmen located in Gothenburg, where society, industry and academia are cooperating in close collaboration with different kinds of users. The team consists of representatives from Volvo, Ericsson, Chalmers University of Technology and Lindholmen Science Park.
A need analysis, with interviews and a workshop with selected stakeholders, was performed initially and has formed the basis for the rest of the pre-study work. The purpose was to identify key stakeholders, their security and efficiency needs as well as vulnerabilities and weaknesses in supply chains with connection to international ports, in particular the port of Gothenburg. The key stakeholders represent ports, authorities, shipping companies, logistics service providers, carriers and others such as consultants and lawyers.
The need analysis has provided input to all the other work packages which in turn were used as input to work package 7 concerning the vital issue of commercialisation. The result is that the estimation of benefits of the suggested potential solution undoubtedly exceeds the costs, demonstrating the necessity of a sequel main project to this pre-study.
