Phase-Sensitive Amplifiers in Optical Transmission System

We first introduce the fundamental concepts of phase-sensitive parametric amplifiers and their implementation with highly nonlinear optical fibers. We then discuss their ability to amplify without excess noise and mitigate nonlinear transmission fiber impairments resulting in enhanced performance in fiber- and free-space communication links.
