Magnetic properties of high-entropy alloy nanostructures: general discussion
Artikel i vetenskaplig tidskrift, 2026

Alfred Ludwig opened the discussion of the paper by Varun Chaudhary: I am missing a comparison between your material and other established magnetic materials; your observed coercivity and saturation/magnetisation values should be compared with benchmarks. With the very low Curie temperatures you find, could these materials be used in any application?
Varun Chaudhary replied: Our intention here was not to compete with established magnetic materials but to understand how chemical ordering and processing influence magnetism in high-entropy alloys (https://doi.org/10.1039/d5fd00105f). The magnetisation values are indeed lower than in conventional soft magnets, such as Fe–Si or permalloy, but these alloys exhibit very high mechanical strength and ductility, far superior to commercially available soft magnetic materials. What makes this system particularly interesting is the strong tunability of its magnetic response through controlled microstructural changes.
