Incorporating Sustainability Aspects when Analysing Manufacturing Systems with Discrete Event Simulation
Paper i proceeding, 2010

A modular discrete event simulation methodology is presented. The methodology aims at separating the simulation expert from the actual model building through the use of parametric modules. Sustainability aspects in terms of ergonomics and environmental effects (from cradle to gate) and normal flow parameters stemming from economic sustainability are incorporated in each module for the discrete event simulation. This combination enables more user-friendly multidisciplinary decision support, hence a more sustainable basis than evaluating each of social, environmental and economic sustainability separately.
