Carl Johan Carlsson

Senior Lecturer at Language and Communication

TEACHING
I teach communication and writing, in Swedish and English, in most of the educational areas at Chalmers. My main focus is on different forms of discipline specific communication and academic writing with the goal to give the students the tools and the preparedness for intra and interdisciplinary communication and knowledge building.

Apart from courses and integrated activities in disciplinary courses, I am also active as a communication supervisor in the bachelor thesis process.

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
My research interest includes different aspects of technical communication and academic writing in Higher Education and how this contributes to students’ disciplinary socialization and active participation in the epistemic discourses. Within this field, I am particularly interested of curriculum development and development of pedagogic and didactic methods in areas such as active learning, formative feedback, and genre awareness.
