Ahmed Hazem Eldesoky
Ahmed Eldesoky is an engineer and architect by training. His research falls under the broad umbrella of human geography to understand the mutual spatial interactions between human communities and the environment. It particularly centers on the use and application of urban analytics (including GIS, statistical analysis, data mining, and machine learning) and urban sensing (with a veer towards low-cost solutions) to understand the impact of the built environment on the natural environment, including climate, air, fauna, humans, and their health and resilience. Ahmed obtained a PhD in Urbanism from Iuav University of Venice in 2022 and an MSc cum laude in Urban Studies from Politecnico di Milano in 2018. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Spatial Morphology Group (SMoG) at Chalmers University of Technology. Before joining SMoG, Ahmed was a postdoctoral researcher at the Urban Simulation Lab (LabSimUrb) at the Department of Architecture and Urban Studies (DAStU) at Politecnico di Milano. Since 2024, Ahmed serves as an Associate Editor at Cities & Health International Journal, and since 2026 as a Senior Editor.
