Georgios Birmpilis

Research Engineer at Geoteknik

Georgios is a Research Engineer in the Division of Geology and Geotechnics, in Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, research group Geotechnics. His research focuses on capturing the evolution of fabric in sensitive soft soils under mechanical loading. New experimental equipment will be developed to combinte miniature tests with non-destructive methods capable of measuring the structure. The final aim of the research is to attempt to link experimentally observed microstructural behaviour with constitutive models for anisotropic sensitive clays on the continuum scale.
