Karin Sjöstrand is employed at RISE Research Institutes of Sweden and is an industrial doctoral student in the Division of Geology and Geotechnics at Chalmers. Important aspects of Karin's research are to develop and apply methods for assessing mitigation measures to enable informed decisions regarding our future water supply and water use. Within the ReWarDS project, a general decision support model for assessments of inter-municipal water supply measures has been developed. The model is probabilistic and based on a combination of cost-benefit and multi-criteria decision analyses to assess whether measures lead towards an increased or decreased sustainability and whether they are economic profitable. Within the SCARCE project, the aim is to provide support and guidance for prioritizing measures to improve the water balance in areas with water shortage.
