Olivia`s research interests lie in how marine renewable energy conversion can affect the environment, both positive and negative. Since late November 2016, Olivia joined the Department of Energy and Environment at Chalmers University of Technology as research fellow investigating and mitigating environmental impacts of hydrokinetic turbines. The project has a special focus on two different turbine models: kite mounted and vertical-axis turbines considering animal-turbine interactions and collision risk models. Measures to limit risks and technical solutions will be integrated to improve the environmental performance of the turbines. This project is carried out in collaboration with both Queens University Belfast, Minesto and the Department of Engineering Sciences at Uppsala University.
