Exploring and mitigating the environmental risk of hydrokinetic turbines
Research Project, 2016 – 2018

The project will study animal-turbine interactions and use the observations in refined collision risk models in order to assess the potential environmental impact on both turbine and seascape level. Also how underwater noise affects the collision risk will be studied, and risk reducing mitigation measures developed and tested. The findings will facilitate for the industry to develop animal-safe systems and for authorities to make informed decisions.
