In new generation of combustion engines, temperature can go down to 80-100 ℃. Although that in this temperature there are considerable amount of NOx emissions present, the SCR system is not able to reduce that. SCR needs minimum 180 ℃ to convert NOx to N2 and H2O. Therefore, a new technique called Passive NOx Adsorption (PNA) had been introduced to adsorb NOx at low temperatures and desorb by temperature ramping up to desired SCR target value. Rojin’s project is focused on developing various materials and models for PNA adsorbents.
