Anna Nooshin Mortazavi
Nooshin is working on high temperature oxidation behavior of advanced stainless steels with applications in power generation technologies, e.g., boilers fired by biomass and waste. Boilers fired by biomass and municipal waste, solid oxide fuel cell and heat exchangers are some examples of the technologies concerning production of green electricity. Nooshin attempts to understand oxidation mechanisms of alumina- and chromia-forming alloys when they are exposed in high and low oxygen activates at high temperatures. She utilizes high resolution analytical tools including SEM/EDX, EBSD, FIB, TEM SIMS, etc., to study the microstructure and microtexture of nano-sized oxide scales. Nooshin is also an expert in transmission Kikutchi diffraction (TKD) method. She has designed a dedicated sample holder and optimized acquisition parameters to achieve data-rich TKD orientation maps.
