Zakariaa is a postdoc researcher in the Division of Building Technology, research group Building Physics Modelling, at Chalmers. He obtained his Ph.D. in 2015 from INSA Lyon (France), where he also worked as Assistant Professor (ATER) between 2014 and 2016. His research activities focused on polymer’s crystallization kinetics and modeling. Zakariaa joined the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (Switzerland) in 2017 as a postdoctoral fellow. During the Postdoctoral stay, he contributed to the design of new materials for asphalt pavement with phase change materials (PCM), for heat transfer optimization purposes. At the Chalmers University of Technology, Zakariaa is developing solutions for demand-side management of thermal energy (for heating and cooling) and building energy efficiency using thermal energy storage materials. The focus is on latent heat storage (PCM) and thermo-chemical storage (TCM and MOST), combining experimental as well as numerical approaches.
