FerroSilva – production of sponge iron using biogenic reduction gas
Research Project, 2021 – 2022

The purpose of the feasibility study is to analyze the technical and economic conditions for industrial production of sponge iron, with the ultimate goal of constructing a production plant for the production of sponge iron from ore and synthesis gas from gasification of biomass. The Swedish Government considers that the production of sponge iron with synthesis gas, produced by gasification of biomass, as a reducing agent, would reduce the process-related emissions in Sweden compared with conventional production with natural gas.
