Controlling product quality and energy efficiency in carbon-free cement production with thermal plasma
Research Project, 2023
– 2026
A technology shift is required to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from existing cement production. In this proposed project, Heidelberg Materials and Chalmers take their starting point in an ongoing collaboration to create new diagnostic equipment for greatly improved control of product quality and energy efficiency in pilot-scale plasma-based cement production. Directly involving key competences within operation and production in the development work is central to achieving an effective implementation of new technology. In this project, a team is created with the core competencies needed for research and process development of plasma-based cement production in a close collaboration between Heidelberg Materials Cement Sverige AB and Chalmers Tekniska Högskola AB. Within the team, there is cutting-edge expertise in production, energy technology, R&D and product quality, electricity and measurement technology.
