UAVs in the medical courier system in Västra Götaland
Research Project, 2023
Sweden’s medical courier system – responsible for transporting lab specimens, medications, and more – is a highly specialised transportation network. The emerging technology of uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs, or drones) presents a potential solution to challenges associated with this courier system: a cost-effective all-terrain transport mode for individual medical parcels. In this exploratory 6-month project, we propose preliminary and interdisciplinary design-motivated studies for a UAV medical courier - including studies into flight systems design, psychoacoustics, and human factors.
