Mobile charging as a service for electric vehicles
Research Project, 2024

In this project, we introduce "charging as a service," an innovative solution for electric vehicle (EV) charging utilizing a fleet of mobile charging vehicles (MCVs). These MCVs provide on-demand charging services, either at stationary locations via plug-in charging or en route with detachable batteries. We focus on developing business models so that the system is viable, and efficient fleet management methods so that customer waiting time and operational costs are reduced. The proposed methods benefit (i) EV users by offering an efficient and convenient charging solution, (ii) the industry by showcasing the merits of this new charging approach, and (iii) society by promoting EV adoption, usage, and enhancing energy grid resilience.
