SARDINIA: Smart digital infrastructure for increased value of automation in manufacturing intralogistics
Research Project, 2025
– 2028
Purpose and goal
The project aims to develop and demonstrate a robust and standardized data infrastructure, interconnected with data-driven and partly AI-based applications, for use in digital value chains focusing on AGV/AMR systems and covering the activities 1) planning, 2) implementation, 3) operational operation and 4) adaptations to changing conditions.
Expected effects and result
The project enables the collection and use of extensive amounts of data from production and intralogistics. The data is connected with AI for analysis, modeling, real-time control, and decision-making. The project can enable a significantly increased productivity in all stages of the value chain. The results are expected to increase the rate of automation in the Swedish manufacturing industry and increase competitiveness and resilience through increased robustness and profitability.
Planned approach and implementation
Initially, a mapping of the current situation and requirements in the intralogistics is carried out, including planning, implementation, operation and adaptation steps in the automation of transportation. Based on these requirements, the project will define use cases that the data infrastructure and associated applications will address, and develop concepts for demonstrations. The data infrastructure developed in the project will be demonstrated and evaluated at two of the project companies.
