Visual Production – Development and Operation of Complex Manufacturing Systems
Research Project, 2011
– 2013
The purpose of this project is to increase efficiency and effectiveness during development of complex manufacturing systems. The demonstrator, to be developed, will be an advanced decision support tool that can visualize different perspectives to support production development experts in their team work. The conceptual idea is that these experts (e.g. a project team) should be able to transform themselves into the future production plant and make the right decisions as a team.
The base is a realistic visualization of the production system built from a scanned picture of the current system/facility. Different information can be overlaid on the base model to visualize and simulate future production flow, performance indicators and information from other tools to create a common understanding of the future situation (augmented reality) and enable for the experts to make quick decisions in the team.
