Safe inductive energy transfer for electric vehicles

This project aims to use theoretical field research results developed at Chalmers and use them to build a new type of wireless charging solution for electric vehicles (EVs), and also to study biological effects of the technique. Wireless charging is believed to be important to make EVs easier to use. The project is divided into two main tracks. First track is planned to study biological effects caused by magnetic field that is used for the energy transfer. Today, no research is performed that study health effects of these requencies and energy amounts. Focus of second track is to build a wireless energy transfer prototype for implementation into EVs. The underlying technology is based on strong coupled magnetic resonance using a unique patented fields design. The project is a collaboration between university, institute and industry with a goal to develop technique with minimized biological effects, thus also possible long term health effects.
