BIM coordinator’s role and function as knowledge leader in construction processes
Research Project, 2014
– 2016
A current trend in the build environment is the effort to streamline construction processes towards a higher degree of standardization and industrialization, which challenges the industry's approach to building, its actors and skill requirements. To support the necessary changes, many organizations have created and introduced various specialist functions. One of these new roles and functions is the BIM-coordinator. Research shows that properly organized, these support functions operate as effective knowledge bearers and leaders throughout the construction process. By studying the model coordinator's role and identity as well as the ability to effectively act as carriers of knowledge and leaders in construction projects, the study contributes to a deeper understanding of the roles and interactions between people in the construction industry. The project is performed in collaboration with industry.
