Development of steam expander
Research Project, 2013
– 2015
There are several indications that the use of steam expanders could be a competitive method for the production of energy in the low power range and for different working media, that is, both steam power and so-called organic Rankine cycle. If it turns out that this is the case, steam expanders thus have the potential to make key aspects of Swedish energy production more efficient and also increase the share of energy production that occurs with local, climate-friendly fuels. These advantages, together with the fact that analyzes of the steam expander area are few, justifies the implementation of a project in the area. The aim is to provide relevant information for developers and potential producers, increasing the possibilities for development and manufacture of advanced and competitive steam expanders.
