Future Layouts for Driver Positions and Visual Information in Trucks (FUDVI)
Research Project, 2013
– 2017
The overall aim of the FUDVI project – Future Layouts for Driver Positions and Visual Information in Trucks– was to develop further knowledge on drivers’ (choice of) driving posture and how this is influenced by design features, such as seat design and position of controls and displays (i.e. internal to the cabin) as well as contextual factors such as traffic environment (i.e. external to the cabin). More in particular the project aimed to collect data on driving postures and drivers’ behavioural patterns including visual behaviour that can be used for the creation of a posture prediction model. These models should take into account the rapidly changing truck driver population consisting of an increasing number of women, younger as well as older drivers.
