Gasification of Biomass
Research Project, 2019 –

The research within gasification will during 2019 be dedicated towards better understanding on how to control the gas composition of various feedstock as well as understand the fundamental conversion routes. The experimental activity will be focused on how to control the fuel feeding and quenching procedures to enable better control of the reactions at industrial scale operation. WP B5 and WP B4 together with the spin-off company Bioshare explore even a new route to introduce gasification technology in existing infrastructure, where the gasifier reactor shares the same volume with the combustor reactor of an existing biomass boiler.

The funding coming from AoA to the gasification is matched by funding from especially the Swedish Gasification Centre (SFC), but also other projects. SFC has a budget connected to Chalmers of 19 MSEK/year (1/3 Energy Agency, 1/3 academy, 1/3 industry). Specifically, AoA-funds will be used to finance two post-docs, Teresa Berdugo and Jelena Maric, who will work on plastic waste gasification and hydrocarbon reaction pathways during gasification.
