Repair and strengthening of concrete structures with corroded reinforcement
Research Project, 2019 – 2022

The aim of this project is to develop effective repair and strengthening methods to restore or improve the serviceability and structural safety of corroded RC structures.

Objectives:
•To thoroughly review existing literature, especially guidelines for strengthening and repair, bearing the effects of corrosion damage in mind.
•To design and carry out experiments on repaired and strengthened beams with corroded reinforcement. Especially, it will be investigated how different techniques can be used to confine the structure, thereby preventing separation of the concrete cover due to corrosion-induced cracks.
•To give guidance on how existing guidelines for strengthening and repair need to be adjusted to be valid for corrosion-damaged structures.
