Development and test of a quota obligation scheme with a focus on power reduction (Casablanca)
Research Project, 2019

Through a market test, geographically limited to Gothenburg, the project will investigate how a white-certificate-like quota obligation scheme, focusing on peak power reduction, should be developed and practiced. The long term goal is to create experiences and knowledge for a possible future national market-based instrument. The focus will be on local measures that help to reduce capacity problems and emissions during so-called peak periods, which can be expected to become increasingly more important in our future energy system. The project is carried out during 34 months in close collaboration between the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation, Göteborg Energi, School of Business, Economics and Law at University of Gothenburg, Chalmers University of Technology, Profu and Sustainable Innovation.
