ON THE AERODYNAMICS OF HIGH SPEED TRAINS USING COMPUTER SIMULATIONS
Paper in proceeding, 2007

Some new approaches in numerical simulations for high-speed train aerodynamics are presented. In particular use of time-dependent numerical simulations for solving transient aerodynamic phenomena is illustrated. Beside explaining the flow using numerical simulations, an efficient shape optimization procedure for improvement of aerodynamic performance is demonstrated. Finally, flow control using vortex generators for the purpose of drag reduction is presented.
