A New Test Setup Designed for Evaluation of Insulation Systems Exposed to Power Electronics Induced Stresses
Paper in proceeding, 2024

This paper introduces a novel method designed to facilitate testing of several insulation specimens at the same time while providing all requirements needed to develop the insulation system. The tests comprise accelerated aging studies with the possibility to monitor gradual changes in PD activity
during the test procedure. Advantages of the method are described in detail and measurements are presented to demonstrate its functionality. In the experiments, faulty specimens could be identified both with PD measurement technique and by measuring unexpected changes in the applied
voltage level magnitude. Based on this information, a faulty specimen could be disconnected rapidly during testing without removing it physically nor requiring an electromechanical relay.
