Keeping Up: IxD Education In the Age of GenAI
Paper in proceeding, 2026

Generative AI (GenAI) is moving with a pulse that many human-computer interaction (HCI) and interaction design (IxD) educators struggle to keep up with. While educators are adapting, they are largely doing so in isolation, and the specific challenges they face and what they need to stay current remain understudied. This workshop addresses this gap. Using participatory activities, we will look at (1) the challenges that IxD educators have faced and the resources, methods, or frameworks that have helped them, and (2) what future directions and approaches could address the needs of IxD educators in the age of GenAI. The aim is to move beyond individual experience toward collective insight, leaving participants with consolidated perspectives, directions for future educational practice, and material for a possible collaborative paper.
