Coordination of the European Research Community on Nuclear Materials for Energy Innovation
Forskningsprojekt, 2024 – 2029

Advancing nuclear materials for green energy
Nuclear reactors provide sustainable baseload energy and are crucial for the transition to green energy. Their safety and efficiency depends significantly on the performance of the materials used for their construction. The EU-funded CONNECT-NM partnership aims to accelerate nuclear materials (NM) innovation for all reactor generations by combining modern digital technologies with materials science. Its research lines are dedicated to developing platforms for NM acceleration, testbeds for qualification, smart technology to monitor health and behaviour of materials during operation, advanced methodologies to predict such behaviour, and a NM data organisational system. Additionally, it will collaborate with several organisations to enhance nuclear safety, expertise, and data management. The results will be instrumental in advancing NM technologies, and nuclear energy.
