Stress on Ships (SOS)
Forskningsprojekt, 2014
– 2016
The shipping industry recognizes the value of maritime education and training system for cadets and seafarers of all types and ranks, and expects high quality from their technical and professional performance. Many studies have been carried out worldwide on the stress on ships subject, but results have not been used to develop a specific training programme to address the issue. “S.O.S. – Stress On Ships” project gathers a group of experts in Europe, to build a new training programme for secondary level maritime students and maritime workers. The goal is to develop a tool to teach them how to recognize the emergence of stress and how to manage it. Shortly, S.O.S. training programme has the ambition to help crews avoiding or managing stress when it occurs during life and work on board. Following S.O.S. project planning, the training programme developed by the experts will be also tested on a small pilot group of cadets and seafarers, who will be monitored during the pilot period on board.
