Compliance monitoring pilot for Marpol Annex VI (CompMon)
Forskningsprojekt, 2014
– 2016
As of January 2015, a new regulation entered into force limiting sulphur emissions from ships in the Sulphur Emission Control Area (SECA) to 0.1%. The Action aims to produce information (e.g. risk ratings, alerts) to be used by national authorities to target on-board inspections to those ships that most likely are non-compliant with the SECA regulation.
The scope is to demonstrate the feasibility of such an approach on a European scale. As such, it will impact all Core Corridors and will contribute to the objective of the Global project, namely to enhance theenforcement and compliance with the SECA regulation.
The Action consists of the following activities: Management and long term strategy; Service pilot delivery; Instruments and platforms (fixed, vessels and airborne); Joint analysis tools and applications. In the long term, the Action will contribute to ensure a level playingfield for maritime transport in the SECA.
