Working conditions for a propeller on a ship moving ing waves
Forskningsprojekt, 2016
The project is part of a long term further development of an in-house fully nonlinear unsteady method for analysis of resistance and ship motions in waves. The focus during 2016 is on the woring conditions for a propeller on a ship moving in head waves. This option was implemented and tested.
A second activity during 2016 was participation in the SHOPERA benchmark study.
The research is relevant for wave resistance, interaction between sea and ship in terms of wave loads and ship motions, and energy efficiency as well as input for fatigue and ultimate stress analysis. The impact of speed reduction can be studied. This is important for both energy efficiency (Eco-driving) and for the structural loads.
