Trends in Energy Storage Technologies (TEST)
Forskningsprojekt, 2020
When it comes to preserving the environment, Sweden is a world leader. Even so, today’s civil transportation system remains costly and accounts for 22% of the global CO2 emissions. Sweden is the home of many global industries manufacturing a wide variety of vehicles including cars, busses, trucks, boats, aircraft and construction equipment. For all vehicles, fuel efficiency is a primary concern, both to reduce fuel consumption costs as well as mitigate environmental impact. In order to meet environmental concerns, many industries have begun pursuing hybrid and electric vehicle options. Clean technologies, such as supercapacitors, batteries, fuel cells and hybrid combinations come with their own strengths and weaknesses – making implementation application specific. Project TEST aims to establish a set of application specific design specifications for vehicle technology, provide a comprehensive literature investigation of available clean energy technologies and chart the progression of each technology for implementation into target applications. Additionally, the project will compile a list of most promising technologies for each application based on present state of the art and predicted future trends.
