A comparison of Three Different Hot-Wire Techniques for the Detemination of the Reynolds Stress Tensor
Paper i proceeding, 1985

Three different hot-wire techniques for the determination of the Reynolds stress tensor sre compared in a two-dimensional flat plate boundary layer. The considered hot-wire techniques are the method of rotated-, single-, cross- and triple-wire. From the measurements it can be concluded that the –puv shear stress and pw2 normal stress can be determined fairly well with all three methods. However, deviations occur in the pv2 normal stress. It is also shown that these deviations may partly be explained by the energy content between 5-10 kHz of the pv2 normal stress.
