Simulation-based investigation of foil-turbulence interaction noise
Övrigt konferensbidrag, 2020

A simulation-based study is presented for flow noise gen- erated by the interaction of strong inflow turbulence with the leading edge of a NACA 0012 foil. The chord-based Reynolds number is 203,000 and the Mach-number 0.09. Large-eddy simulation is used to compute the sound sources in an acoustic analogy. The inflow turbulence is generated with a synthetic method and the spectral properties of the simulated turbulence, just upstream of the leading edge, are analyzed to ensure that it is sufficiently resolved in the acoustically most interesting frequency range. Results are compared with experiments, both for the deformation of the turbulence at the leading edge and for the radiated sound.
