Enabling flat and miniaturized surface plasmon biosensing with metagrating-integrated lasers
Poster (konferens), 2025

Numerous biosensing methodologies have been developed to meet the ever-increasing demand for sensitive, rapid, and cost-effective biomolecular analysis. Among these, label-free biosensors are crucial because they offer the possibility of real-time monitoring of biomolecular properties and reaction kinetics. These advantages are best exemplified by the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) refractive
index (RI) biosensor. However, the SPR technique is still mostly found in high-end laboratories in academia and industry. This has motivated significant research efforts targeting a miniaturized and affordable SPR devices, that can enable the technique to be utlized by a broader community. We a demonstrated a flat and miniature SPR module enabled by a metasuraface integrated vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) that directly “on-chip” produce a beam of light that can be used for angle resolved SPR measurements.
