Benchmark cases in 3D diffraction with different methods
Paper i proceeding, 2014

A number of basic 3D scattering benchmark cases are studied in this work, including a cube, a simple building/barrier, and a sphere. The scattered field is computed using direct BEM and an edge diffraction based method, which is based on decomposing the field into geometrical acoustics and multiple-order edge diffraction components. The solutions will be also compared with analytic approximations when applicable. Aspects such as accuracy vs. mesh size or frequency, as well as computation time vs. accuracy are studied. Different receiver locations are taken into account, close to the boundary of the 3D-objects as well as in different diffraction zones. The inclusion of metadata in published scientific results, such as datapoint values, detailed mesh geometry, and detailed software information, is discussed.
