Laura Guerrero Orozco

Doctoral Student at Biomedical Electromagnetics

Laura Guerrero is a PhD student in the Biomedical Electromagnetics research group, which develops novel and microwave-based systems for medical diagnostics and treatment. Laura is involved in a project related to Microwave Imaging and specifically its application to diagnosis of sports injuries where muscle rupture can be suspected. Whenever there is a muscle rupture there is also a bleeding, which can be identified with the microwave technique. We also plan to investigate the possibility of monitoring the healing process of muscles, by measuring the size of edemas. The project is focused on further developing and improving the Microwave Imaging prototype conceived at Chalmers. The project is organized within MedTech West and the plan is to carry out initial clinical evaluations together with our clinical collaborators.
