Robin Öz is since 2016 a PhD student in Fredrik Westerlund's group at the Division of Chemical Biology. His research aims to increase understanding of how proteins interact with DNA. The idea is to develop methods, which will allow for dynamic studies of DNA-protein complexes. By using nanofluidic channels in combination with fluorescence microscopy he is studying molecular interactions on a single-molecule lever in real time. The aim is to eventually map the biophysical mechanisms of important biological processes in the cell, such as compaction of DNA and DNA damage repair.
