Axel Olesund

Axel Olesund is pursuing his PhD degree in Bo Albinsson's research group, and his research is on photon upconversion, a non-conventional method to making better use of the Sun's energy. In this process, the energy from two photons of low energy is added together to form a photon of higher energy, which can be used to expand the range of applications of solar energy, as well as to increase the efficiency of e.g. solar cells. His research focuses mainly on upconversion in the UV spectra, as well as on issues concerning the mechanisms that control upconversion.
