Pooria Khalili

Post doc at Material and Computational Mechanics

At the Department of Industrial and Materials Science, Pooria holds the position as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow and his research is focused on natural fibre thermoplastic composites. He is supervising a group of five students for a master`s project course. He has developed strong collaborations with University of Nottingham Ningbo, Deakin University, La Trobe University as well as several polymer, fabric and chemical related companies.His areas of research lie in the field of advanced composites for automotive, train and aircraft interiors, natural fibers, graphite, nanocomposites, bio-polymeric composites, flame retardants, additive manufacturing, graphene, CNT, honeycomb panels and impact mechanics. He has practical laboratory experience and good theoretical knowledge on the manufacturing techniques for fibre reinforced polymeric composites such as vacuum resin infusion, surface coating, compression molding as well as hand lay-up method.Prior to joining Chalmers, he has served as a Research Fellow in University of Nottingham Ningbo where he could secure a grant for their composite group. He worked for 2 specific projects on natural fibre composites for aircraft and building applications in 2018 at University of Nottingham China. The research areas were the evaluation of flammability, thermal and mechanical performances of fibre polymeric composites as well as honeycomb sandwiched panels.In higher education, Pooria completed the qualification of the Postgraduate Student Teachers (PST) teaching certificate from University of Nottingham, 2018. Pooria obtained both his PhD and MSc (with distinction) degrees in Mechanical Engineering from University of Nottingham and Universiti Tenaga Nasional, respectively.
