My PhD research is in Coding Theory.
I study finite-length scaling laws for spatially-coupled low-density parity-check (SC-LDPC) codes, a powerful class of codes-on-graphs. SC-LDPC codes have been shown to achieve the fundamental limits of communication and storage and yield outstanding performance in other scenarios, such as in compressed sensing.
The aim of our work is to predict the probability of decoding error for practically relevant decoding algorithms. The behavior of the decoder is prohibitively complex to analyze exactly; our goal is to propose instead a mathematical model that can both yield sufficiently accurate predictions and be amenable to analysis.
