Vitamin D status in pregnant women and their newborns in relation to allergy development in the children
Research Project, 2022 – 2023

The project aims to study whether pregnant women's dietary intake of vitamin D and their vitamin D status affects allergy development in their children.

The project is conducted within a large mother-child cohort, the NICE study, which has collected data from 650 mothers and children from 2025 onwards. Dietary intake is measured with questionnaires, vitamin D in blood plasma is measured with liquid chromatography linked to a mass spectrometer and allergy diagnoses are made by an allergist when the children are 1, 4 and 6 years old.
